Image
CVS #1650 Opened:  1999 Address:  130 Hockersville Rd Photographed:  May 2022 CVS #1922 Opened:  193 Address:  6301 Grayson Rd Photographed:  May 2022 For today's double-feature, we have two CVS stores in Dauphin County. First up - CVS #1650 in Hershey. CVS #1650, like most Central Pennsylvanian CVSes started out as a Peoples Drug Store, this one located at 25 Derrytown Mall. It opened on November 29, 1968 and became CVS in 1991. It was relocated to its current location, 130 Hockersville Road, in 1999. The history of store #1922 in Harrisburg is much more condensed. It opened in the late 1980s/early 1990s as a Fay's and became CVS in 1993.

CVS #2591 Opened:  2005 Address:  104 N. Pottstown Pike Photographed:  April 2022 CVS #10694 Opened:  2018 Address:  141 W. Lincoln Hwy Photographed:  April 2022 For today's double-feature we have two CVS stores along Pennsylvania Route 100. First up, store #2591 in Chester Springs. Chester Springs' CVS #2591 opened on June 27, 2005. There really isn't much else to say about it except that it has a neat exterior design. For the second store of the day, we have one of the many CVS locations in Exton, store #10694. This is one of the newest CVSes around, it opened on March 4, 2018.

Glimpse: CVS #1672 - Elizabethtown, PA

Image
CVS #1672 Opened:  1991 Address:   1575 S. Market St Photographed:  December 2021 For our second and final stop in the Harrisburg area this time around, we have CVS #1672 in Elizabethtown. Up next, we're headed to Wilmington. Another store with Rea & Derick roots, CVS #1672 in Elizabethtown opened on August 19, 1984, as Rea & Derick, replacing an ACME supermarket that closed in summer 1982 . It was converted to CVS in 1991 with the rest of Rea & Derick's stores.  While the exterior looks like it could use some work, the interior has been fully remodeled to the latest CVS prototype, which I've dubbed as "Plain and boring" If I had to take a guess, I'd say this cart has probably been here since this place opened in 1991.

Glimpse: CVS #2882 - Camp Hill, PA

Image
CVS #2882 Opened:  2001 Address:   1116 Carlisle Rd Photographed:  December 2021 For the first of our two Harrisburg posts this time around, we have a typical CVS in Camp Hill, Lower Allen Township. Lower Allen's original CVS was located at 1104 Carlisle Rd. It was formerly an ACME supermarket in the 1960s, as well as a Rea & Derick drugstore, which opened on January 1, 1972, and became a CVS in 1991. CVS opened a new store at 1116 Carlisle Road on October 8, 2001, leaving the old store to become a Dollar General.

Quick Look: CVS #5723 - Shrewsbury, PA

Image
CVS #5723 Opened:  2010? Address:   606 S. Main St Photographed:  December 2021 For one of our two York County stores this time around, we have CVS #5723, located in Shrewsbury, Southern York County. This CVS is your typical 2010's CVS drugstore, appearing to have opened in 2010. It relocated from 74 E. Forrest Ave, in a former Revco, which opened on September 17, 1984. It features chain's recognizable design from the era, with your usual "CVS/Pharmacy" signage on the exterior. The inside, however, has been fully remodeled to the latest decor package, likely replacing the "Urban Store" decor package implemented when the store first opened.   The old store on Forrest Ave (Photo by joshaustin610 on Flickr)

Glimpse: CVS #1675 - Lancaster, PA (Manor Shopping Center)

Image
CVS #1675 Opened:  1991 Address:   1278 Millersville Pike Photographed:  October 2021 Now that we've finished our excursion into Baltimore County, Maryland, we're back up in Lancaster, up next, we're headed up to Harrisburg. CVS #1675, another store with roots as Rea & Derick, opened its doors on August 14, 1962 as said Rea & Derick. In 1991, with all the other Rea & Dericks, it was converted to CVS. Glimpse: CVS #1842 - Washington, DC (Pennsylvania Ave)

Image
CVS #1842 Opened:  1993 Address:   1275 Pennsylvania Ave Photographed:  October 2021 Before heading up to Maryland, we have one more drugstore in DC to take a look at -- CVS #1842. CVS #1842, a two-floor store, located just one mile from the Washington Monument and the White House, opened on January 20, 1993, with a much bolder design than it has today. In 2014, the building (including CVS) was remodeled a bit, and the exterior changed, becoming more subtle. As of October 2021, there is no exterior sign with lights, so even though it's open until 10pm (as of 10/26/21), you probably wouldn't see it at that hour unless you knew what you were looking for... Glimpse: CVS #10415 - Washington, DC (Maine Ave)

Image
CVS #10415 Opened:   Address:   804 Maine Ave SW Photographed:  October 2021 For our second stop in the District of Columbia, we have this CVS in the Wharf shopping district. Next up, another Walgreens. No spoilers as to which one, though ;) CVS #10415, one of 63 (including Target locations) in the District of Columbia, opened on October 12, 2017.

Glimpse: CVS #2371 - Lancaster, PA (Columbia Ave)

Image
CVS #2371 Opened:  1999 Address:   2020 Columbia Ave Photographed:  November 2021 Welcome back to Lancaster! Before moving on to Kennett Square, I have one more (for the time being) Lancastrian CVS in my backlog. One of the few non-acquired, non-relocation CVS stores in the county, this store opened on March 21, 1999. It was remodeled in 2018/19, and was formerly a 24-hour store. (Google Maps Streetview) (Google Maps Streetview) An older photo from September I found on my phone

Glimpse: CVS #1654 - York, PA

Image
CVS #1654 Opened:  2014 Address:   1700 N. George St Photographed:  August 2021 Welcome back to Retail Forever! As this is the fourth CVS in a row to be featured on this blog, you're probably bored with the chain (I know I sure am). You'll probably be relieved that up next, we have a Rite Aid and not another CVS. Like many other Central-Pennsylvanian CVS stores, this one started out as a Rea & Derick. It opened on March 1, 1959, with a shopping center at 1500 N. George St. In 1991, it became a CVS. Despite many relocation waves, this CVS held remained open and went on to become the last former Peoples Drug/Rea & Derick in the area before CVS finally decided to relocate in 2014. Quick Look: CVS #1657 - York, PA

Image
CVS #1657 Opened:  Mid-2000s Address:   2080 S. Queen St Photographed:  August 2021 Our drugstore series has finally arrived in York! Today, we've got a semi-interesting CVS located in the city's south end. Here we go! This store started out on November 23, 1984, at 2057 Springwood Road as a Peoples Drug store. In 1991, it was converted to a CVS with the rest of the chain. In the mid-2000s, it relocated to its current location at 2080 S. Queen St, becoming a 24-hour store. In 2020, the store was remodeled inside and out, refreshing the exterior and adding a HealthHub.  They are advertising for HealthHub in literally every place they can! HealthHub logo on the floor near the entrance, sorry about the blurry photo Listing of HealthHub services on one of the back walls, in retrospect it probably would have been helpful to take a photo of the whole sign... Old store, 2057 Springwood Rd (Photo by joshaustin610 on Flickr)

Glimpse: CVS #4020 - Nottingham, PA

Image
CVS #4020 Opened:  2010 Address:   201 Fieldcrest Dr Photographed:  July 2021 Welcome back to Pennsylvania! Before heading over to York (where, surprise, surprise, I have more CVSes), we've got one more store to take a look at, that being CVS #4020 in Nottingham. Like all the other CVSes I've covered, this one is fairly extremely standard. It opened on June 20, 2010. Is it just me or is their signage a bit large?

Christmas at CVS - 2021 (Lititz, PA)

Image
For our next holiday post, we've got yet another  store you may recognize -- CVS #2297 . This store has about an aisle and a half dedicated to Christmas merchandise. In this photo, you can see one side of the half-aisle... and here's the other side of the half-aisle As well as the full aisle, from both sides.
