The first store in the area for Aldi, the store at 280 N. Northern Way opened on August 13, 1992. It was later remodeled in 2017, bringing the store to what it is today. WALGREENS #9591 Opened:  2005 Address:   2350 E. It's located along the busy retail corridor of Market Street, so I imagine it does really well.

2-in-1: Former Tom's Convenience Stores in York and Etters, Pennsylvania

Image
1. Tom's Newberrytown - 2180 Old Trail Rd, Goldsboro, PA As far as I can see, this location was never actually branded as a Tom's. But it had the color scheme and appeared on the Tom's website, so........ Tom's c-store with Exxon gasoline, later converted to Exxon completely. Before the Tom's pattern design thingy was removed from the convenience store. (Google Maps Streetview) 2. Tom's E Market St - 2335 E Market St, York, PA Closed around 2006? Demolished in 2008/2009 for Giant Gasoline. Former Tom's, shortly before demolition (Google Maps Streetview)

Glimpse: Save A Lot #60064 - York, PA

Image
SAVE-A-LOT #60064 Opened:  2007 Address:   1045 Mount Rose Ave Photographed:  August 2021 Continuing through York, our next stop is Save-A-Lot #60064. After this, we're headed up to North York for one more supermarket. Before the opening of Save-A-Lot's original York store, Downtown York had been without a supermarket since Kash & Karry closed in 1986. York's first Save-A-Lot opened in January 1995 at 131-139 N Duke St, in a space left behind by A&P in 1982. On November 15, 2007, the store relocated to 1045 Mt Rose Ave, in a former Giant Food Store, which opened in the 1960s/1970s and closed in 1994. However, this was out of city limits and Downtown York was without a supermarket again... until 2011 when C-Town opened in the former Kash & Karry/Save-A-Lot on North Duke St. Original Save-A-Lot of York, now C-Town (Photo by joshaustin610 on Flickr)

Price Rite of York, a 29,000 sq. ft. no-frills supermarket, located (surprise, surprise) in York, opened on July 1, 2003, in a space formerly occupied by Phar-Mor, which closed in 2002 with the rest of the chain. In 2018 or 2019, this store was remodeled to the PriceRite Marketplace format. Glimpse: CVS #1654 - York, PA

Image
CVS #1654 Opened:  2014 Address:   1700 N. George St Photographed:  August 2021 Welcome back to Retail Forever! As this is the fourth CVS in a row to be featured on this blog, you're probably bored with the chain (I know I sure am). You'll probably be relieved that up next, we have a Rite Aid and not another CVS. Like many other Central-Pennsylvanian CVS stores, this one started out as a Rea & Derick. It opened on March 1, 1959, with a shopping center at 1500 N. George St. In 1991, it became a CVS. Despite many relocation waves, this CVS held remained open and went on to become the last former Peoples Drug/Rea & Derick in the area before CVS finally decided to relocate in 2014. Quick Look: CVS #1657 - York, PA

Image
CVS #1657 Opened:  Mid-2000s Address:   2080 S. Queen St Photographed:  August 2021 Our drugstore series has finally arrived in York! Today, we've got a semi-interesting CVS located in the city's south end. Here we go! This store started out on November 23, 1984, at 2057 Springwood Road as a Peoples Drug store. In 1991, it was converted to a CVS with the rest of the chain. In the mid-2000s, it relocated to its current location at 2080 S. Queen St, becoming a 24-hour store. In 2020, the store was remodeled inside and out, refreshing the exterior and adding a HealthHub.  They are advertising for HealthHub in literally every place they can! HealthHub logo on the floor near the entrance, sorry about the blurry photo Listing of HealthHub services on one of the back walls, in retrospect it probably would have been helpful to take a photo of the whole sign...
