SAFEWAY #1399 Opened:  1978 Address:   3499 Sweet Air Rd Photographed:  October 2021 I feel like I really owe you guys a Tour right now, due to all the Glimpses I've been posting over the past four months, although due to, well, stuff, the best I can do right now is this Quick Look. Enjoy! This store is perhaps the oldest Safeway in the area, dating back to 1978, when it opened in the Manor Shopping Center. Likely due to its age, this store has no pharmacy. That's just about all I have, so please enjoy the pictures below.

SAFEWAY #1763 Opened:  2001 Address:   190 John Hunn Brown Rd Photographed:  July 2021 Welcome to Dover! Before visiting Aldi and Lidl, let's take a glimpse at the one traditional supermarket I have photographed in Dover - Safeway #1763. Before the current Dover store, Safeway operated two other supermarkets in Dover, at 25 Greentree Dr and 1255 S. State St. Both of these closed in 1987 with the rest of Safeway's Delawarean stores. The opening of this store marked the start of Safeway's second try in Delaware. The store at 190 John Hunn Brown Rd opened in Spring 2001. The exterior was "remodeled" (they updated the logo) at some point between 2008 and 2012. When ACME and Safeway have overlaps in terms of store locations, one of them usually ends up closing. SAFEWAY #2706 Opened:  2005 Address:   19283 Coastal Hwy Photographed:  July 2021 Before leaving Rehoboth Beach and heading up to Dover (where there's another Safeway...), we've got one more supermarket to look at - Safeway #2706. And, to sweeten the deal, I've got several interior photos of this one... Surprisingly, this isn't the first Safeway in Rehoboth Beach. There was a store that opened in the 1970s and closed in 1987 at 19724 Coastal Hwy. But that's not the purpose of today's post. This post is about the current store at 19283 Coastal Hwy. Safeway's (new) 55,000 sq. ft. Rehoboth Beach supermarket, store #2706, opened on November 17, 2005, holding a grand opening the next day. This was one of the first stores to use the new logo (although for some strange reason, the fuel station used the older one, I still don't know what went on there...).
