Glimpse: Grocery Outlet Bargain Market #702 - Lancaster, PA

Image
Like many of the other Lancaster-area Grocery Outlet locations, this was formerly an Amelia's. The original location, at 1941 Lincoln Highway East (now Benjamin Moore Paints) was built and opened around 1992(?). It relocated in 2002 to its current location, at 1951 Lincoln Hwy East, and in 2011, with the rest of the Amelia's locations, it was sold to Grocery Outlet Bargain Market. It was rebranded in 2014. The original store, as it appears today (Google Maps Streetview) Thanks to a 2001 archive of the Amelia's website, we can see the original location. Additionally, from a 2002 archive of the Amelia's website, we can also see some snapshots of the new store as Amelia's Grocery Outlet. Quick Information: Opened: 1992? / 2002 Address: 1941 Lincoln Highway East / 1951 Lincoln Hwy East Photographed: March 2021

Glimpse: CVS #5721 - Ephrata, PA

Image
CVS #5721, located at 440 N Reading Road in Ephrata, Pennsylvania originally opened at 413 N Reading Road on August 17, 1986, as Revco #2721. It became a CVS in 1997; relocating to its current location in the early 2000s and becoming a 24-hour store. However, the store is no longer open 24 hours a day; that feature was removed between 2011 and 2015. Before the 24-hours signage was removed (Google Maps imagery) CVS #5721's appearance as of July 2021; instead of removing the block that once read "24 hours", the text was simply removed. It looks quite strange in my opinion, although whenever this store finally upgrades to the new signage, it will likely be removed. Quick Information: Opened : 1986 / 1997 / Early 2000s Address:  440 N Reading Rd Photographed: July 2021

Glimpse: Giant #6004 - Lititz, PA

Image
Giant #6004, located at 1008 Lititz Pike in Lititz, Pennsylvania opened in 2000 with a variation of the standard Giant exterior model (it was changed so it would fit into the shopping center, but that didn't really matter because Target opened a store there 11 years later with their own design). Anyway, this Giant competes with the Lititz Weis and the Lititz Stauffers  and features its own gas station. Retail in Lancaster County, PA The gas station, which was formerly a Citgo. Quick Look: CVS #1665 - Manheim, PA

Image
CVS #1665, located at 129 Doe Run Road in Manheim, Pennsylvania originally opened on December 1, 1984, as a Rea & Derick. It was converted to CVS in 1991, with CVS opening a new store at the end of the center in the early 2000s. As of June 2021; it continues to feature the "CVS/Pharmacy" signage on the exterior, not the newer heart logo (which many other stores with this exterior design have already upgraded to), as well as the "Expect Something Extra" decor package, making it one of the least (if not the least) updated stores in the Lancaster area. In this photo, you can see some of the "Expect Something Extra" decor. Quick Information: Opened: 1984 / 1991 / Early 2000s Address: 129 Doe Run Road Photographed: June 2021

Glimpse: Giant #6484 - Lancaster, PA

Image
Giant #6484, located at 1605 Lititz Pike in Lancaster, Pennsylvania was formerly a Pantry Pride, which I think opened in the 1960s(?) and faced competition from an ACME down the road. Sold to Giant in 1981, Giant demolished and rebuilt the store in 2010. In 2020, a Giant Direct delivery hub was added to the back of the store.
