SAFEWAY #2706 Opened:  2005 Address:   19283 Coastal Hwy Photographed:  July 2021 Before leaving Rehoboth Beach and heading up to Dover (where there's another Safeway...), we've got one more supermarket to look at - Safeway #2706. And, to sweeten the deal, I've got several interior photos of this one... Surprisingly, this isn't the first Safeway in Rehoboth Beach. There was a store that opened in the 1970s and closed in 1987 at 19724 Coastal Hwy. But that's not the purpose of today's post. This post is about the current store at 19283 Coastal Hwy. Safeway's (new) 55,000 sq. ft. Rehoboth Beach supermarket, store #2706, opened on November 17, 2005, holding a grand opening the next day. This was one of the first stores to use the new logo (although for some strange reason, the fuel station used the older one, I still don't know what went on there...). CVS #2371 Opened:  1999 Address:   2020 Columbia Ave Photographed:  November 2021 Welcome back to Lancaster! Before moving on to Kennett Square, I have one more (for the time being) Lancastrian CVS in my backlog. One of the few non-acquired, non-relocation CVS stores in the county, this store opened on March 21, 1999. It was remodeled in 2018/19, and was formerly a 24-hour store. ALDI #1476 Opened:  2009 Address:   98 Chesapeake Blvd Photographed:  July 2021 Aldi's Elkton supermarket - located just 400 feet from the Delaware-Maryland border -  at 98 Chesapeake Boulevard opened in 2009 and was remodeled in early 2019, holding a grand reopening on May 17, 2019. From CuddlesTheTiger.  I'm not sure when this Karns opened, but the cool part about this Karns is that each aisle is named after a street in Hershey, which you'll see in some of the pictures. The Karns also has the Hershey Pharmacy, dry cleaner, a cafè along with a Wine and Spirits in store. And their fried chicken is better than Giant's in my opinion. RITE AID #246 Opened:  2001 Address:   337 W. Chocolate Ave Photographed:  August 2021 Welcome back to The Rite-Up! Today, we make a brief return to the Hershey/Hummelstown area of Dauphin County. After this, we're headed back to Lancaster, then on to Kennett Square. Rite Aid #246, one of approximately 20 with Keystone Drug roots, opened in 1976 at 271 W. Chocolate Ave, upon Rite Aid acquiring Keystone. In 2001, however, Rite Aid would relocate to its current location at 337 W. Chocolate Ave, building a newer, larger, and more modern store. Likely due to its proximity to Rite Aid's corporate headquarters in Camp Hill (planned to relocate to Philadelphia in 2022), this store's exterior is quite deluxe, and does not match (or even resemble) any of the company's other stores from the era.
