Glimpse: Rite Aid #246 - Hershey, PA | The Rite-Up

RITE AID #246

Opened: 2001
Address:  337 W. Chocolate Ave
Photographed: August 2021

Welcome back to The Rite-Up! Today, we make a brief return to the Hershey/Hummelstown area of Dauphin County. After this, we're headed back to Lancaster, then on to Kennett Square.

Rite Aid #246, one of approximately 20 with Keystone Drug roots, opened in 1976 at 271 W. Chocolate Ave, upon Rite Aid acquiring Keystone. In 2001, however, Rite Aid would relocate to its current location at 337 W. Chocolate Ave, building a newer, larger, and more modern store. Likely due to its proximity to Rite Aid's corporate headquarters in Camp Hill (planned to relocate to Philadelphia in 2022), this store's exterior is quite deluxe, and does not match (or even resemble) any of the company's other stores from the era.

  1. I lived in Hershey from 2015-2018 and visited this location quite often. I even have a few photos if you'd want to use them. Many fond memories at that location. Also, if you happen to do any other stores in Hershey, I may have pictures you could use, and might even be able to tell you what I know of them. I worked at Staples and Sunoco there.

    1. Thank you for the offer! The only stores in Hershey that I haven't photographed are Karn's and CVS. Do you have any photo(s) of them? If so, I'd be happy to use them in a future post :)

    2. I do! I went to Karns a lot, and love that store. Best fried chicken. Where should I email the pictures to?
