WALGREENS #11067 Opened:  2006 Address:   396 E. Main St Photographed:  July 2021 To start off our series of Delawarean Walgreens stores (all of which were formerly Happy Harry's), we have a store located at 396 East Main Street in Middletown. It originally opened on May 14, 2003, as Happy Harry's #67. With Walgreens purchasing all of the Happy Harry's stores in 2006, this store was converted to Walgreens #11067 that same year, then in 2011, the signage was updated, officially killing off the Happy Harry's name and giving Walgreen Co. its first branded Delawarean stores. GIANT #6458 Opened:  2008 Closed: 2017 Address:   2074 Fruitville Pike Photographed:  June 2021 Giant #6458 originally opened in Spring 1993 as a Redner's Warehouse Market and as one of the original tenants at the Hawthorne Center shopping complex. Redner's closed on January 12, 2008; selling all fixtures to Giant, with Giant opening on May 7, 2008, after remodeling and rearranging the store. However (likely due to the larger Giant less than two miles away on Lititz Pike ), this store closed on May 18, 2017, less than 10 years after opening. It became a Hobby Lobby in 2018. CVS #2494 Opened:  1999 Address:   525 W. Main St Photographed:  July 2021 CVS #2494, 525 W. Main Street, Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, opened on August 2, 1999, with the standard design of the time. October 2019 - Google Earth April 1993 - Google Earth

GIANT #6566 Opened:  2019 Address:   3985 Columbia Ave Photographed:  June 2021 Giant #6566 originally opened in 1992 as a Fox's Market , although just a few years later, in 1995, it was rebranded to a Redner's Warehouse Market . On January 2, 2009, the store was purchased by another local chain, Musser's Markets. It was remodeled yet again, holding a grand reopening on February 21, 2009. However, when Giant purchased the three-store Musser's chain in 2019, it was rebranded and remodeled yet again, reopening as a Giant Food Store on November 8, 2019. RITE AID #4684 Opened:  1997 Address:   825 E. Chestnut St Photographed:  July 2021 Rite Aid #4684, located at 825 E. Chestnut Street in Lancaster, Pennsylvania opened its doors on July 7, 1997, as the chain's second store in downtown Lancaster. The exterior was repainted from blue to brown in 2013, and again to gray in 2020/2021. ALDI #2524 Opened:  2018 Address:   4702 Jonestown Rd Photographed:  June 2021 Aldi #2524, located at 4702 Jonestown Rd in Colonial Park, Pennsylvania opened in 2018, taking the space of a former self-storage facility.  Ummm, was I supposed to write more? CVS #1662 Opened:   Around 2007 Address:   1624 Lincoln Hwy Photographed:  July 2021 CVS #1662, located at 1624 Lincoln Highway in Lancaster, Pennsylvania originally opened as a Rea & Derick on August 1, 1967, at 1643 Lincoln Highway. It became a CVS in 1991, and it closed around 2007 when it moved to its current location, which originally was built as a Weis (which relocated around 1980), and Revco (which opened in 1995 and closed in 1997). For some history and pre-remodel photos, check out our previous post on Rite Aid #3610 at  https://retailforever.blogspot.com/2021/01/glimpse-rite-aid-3610-columbia-pa.html At some point in the past year, Columbia's Rite Aid received the latest exterior remodel, removing the red "RITE AID" signage that had probably been there since it opened in 1988. I can confirm, though, that the "rainbow stripes" decor package is still in use.  The following photos were taken on September 17.
