The History of Red Rose Commons - Lancaster, PA

Red Rose Commons, The third-largest shopping plaza in Lancaster County originally opened in 1998 with the stores Hollywood Video, PetSmart, Barnes & Noble, Old Country Buffet, Pepboys Auto, Weis Markets, OfficeMax, Party City, Linens N Things, The Home Depot, Sports Authority, Old Navy, and Circuit City. The center followed the below layout.

Lancaster's lone Home Depot, which is located at Red Rose Commons.

Lancaster's HomeGoods, also at Red Rose Commons

Everything remained the same until around 2008 when Linens N Things closed. A year later, in 2009, Circuit City closed. Hollywood Video closed in 2010 and became Verizon. OfficeMax's exterior was remodeled around that time as well. In April 2010, Pennsylvania's first H. H. Gregg opened in the former Circuit City space. In May 2011, HomeGoods opened in the Linens N Things space, leaving this layout:
The mid-to-late 2010s turned out to have lots of changes to the center, with Sports Authority and Old Country Buffet closing in 2016, HH Gregg in 2017, also in 2017, a Plaza Aztaca Mexican Restaurant opened in the former Old Country Buffet and Burlington opened a second Lancaster location in the former Sports Authority. In 2018, Best Buy relocated from its original location on Lincoln Highway East (which opened in 2009) to the former HH Gregg. This created the layout that is in place to this date.

Today, I'd say that Red Rose Commons has a stable lineup of retailers. The only thing that's questionable is OfficeMax, which closed its York store in 2019. The closest is over 35 miles away, in Reading.
