Glimpse: HomeGoods #502 - Lancaster, PA (former Linens N Things)

Image
HomeGoods #502, located at 1700 Fruitville Pike in Lancaster, Pennsylvania originally opened in 1998 with the center as Linens N Things. LNT closed in December 2008 and sat vacant until HomeGoods opened in May 2011 as the chain's first (and only) Lancaster County location (their sister stores, Marshalls and TJMaxx both operated, and continue to operate stores in the county at the time).  Linens N Things, as it appeared vacant in 2009. (photo from LNP | LancasterOnline) HomeGoods as it appears today. This has got to be one of the best quality photos I've captured in a long time. Quick Information: Opened: 1998 / 2011 Address: 1700 Fruitville Pike Photographed: March 2021

Glimpse: Weis #77 - Manheim, PA

Image
Weis #77, located at 75 Doe Run Road opened around 2000 as a relocation of a store across the center (at 129 Doe Run Road), which opened in the 1970s, and is now Longenecker's True Value Hardware. This store features two décor packages at the current time. I personally think this store looks amazing on the exterior (but like most other Weis stores on the inside). My one, terrible quality photo of this location. Quick Information: Opened:  Around 2000 Address:  75 Doe Run Road Photographed:  January 2021

Glimpse: Darrenkamp's - Mount Joy, PA

Image
Darrenkamps' Mount Joy location, at 945 E Main Street in  Mount Joy, Pennsylvania opened in 1998 as the first traditional Darrenkamp's supermarket. When Giant purchased the chain in 2018, this location was closed (The Willow Street store was the only location to be converted to Giant, Giant operates a store a half a mile down the road). It was a used car "dealership" throughout 2019, and in October 2020, Stauffers of Kissel Hill Fresh Foods (another local grocery store) announced that they planned to open a new store at the space (This will be their 3rd store, or 4th if you count the tiny location on Oregon Pike which closed in 2019). Stauffers is planned to open in May 2021. What Stauffers plans the new store will look like (Stauffers blog) Another photo from the Stauffers blog The road sign, Stauffers' sign is already up! Darrenkamp's (Google Maps imagery) Quick Information: Opened: 1998 / 2021 Address:  945 E Main Street Photographed: March 2021

Glimpse: Lancaster's First Weis Market

Image
Weis (# is unknown), located at 1264 Lititz Pike, opened in 1960 as part of the Golden Triangle shopping center. This was the Sunbury-based supermarket chain's first Lancaster location. It closed in the 1990s and became Marshalls in 2000. Quick Information: Opened: 1960 Closed: 1990s Address: 1264 Lititz Pike Photographed: March 2021

Glimpse: CVS #1667 - Lititz, PA

Image
CVS #1667, located at 1052 Lititz Pike in Lititz, Pennsylvania originally opened in 1984 at 743 S. Broad St, in a space that was formerly a Rea & Derick. It relocated to its current location in 1991. It has operated there since then and received a remodel around 2018. Before the remodel (Google Maps Streetview) The original location (Google Maps imagery) Quick Information: Opened: 1984 / 1991 Address: 1052 Lititz Pike Photographed: November 2020

Glimpse: Wegmans #14 - Hunt Valley, MD

Image
Wegmans Food Market #14, located at 122 Shawan Road in Hunt Valley, Maryland opened in 2005 as the first Wegmans in Maryland. It's about 116,000 square feet. The store features the exterior design of the time, and it once featured the old Wegmans logo. The logo has since been replaced. With the new signage Google Earth imagery The store while it still featured the old signage. Quick Information: Opened:  2005 Address:  122 Shawan Road Photographed:  May 2018

Tour: CVS #8495 - Lancaster, PA (Oregon Pike)

Image
CVS #8495, located at 2363 Oregon Pike in Lancaster, Pennsylvania opened on February 2, 2011, as part of the Shoppes At Landis Valley. It features the standard early 2010s CVS exterior. On the inside, the "Urban Store" signage is still in use. This store's canopy appears to be up too high. At the stores in Rohrerstown, Centerville, and Lititz, it's directly above the doors. I've never seen a sign with this type of information at a CVS before. There's not really anything special about this CVS, it's like pretty much every other CVS from the era so I'll just let the rest of the photos speak for themselves. Quick Information: Opened: 2011 Address: 2363 Oregon Pike Photographed: March 2021

Glimpse: CVS #1671 - Lancaster, PA (Lititz Pike)

Image
CVS #1671, located at 1507 Lititz Pike in Lancaster, Pennsylvania originally opened in 1964 (?) as an ACME Market. Closed in 1982 with the rest of the Lancaster ACME stores. Became Rea & Derick on 02/20/1983. Became CVS in 1991. This location received new exterior signage and an interior remodel in 2019. This is the only 24-hour CVS in the Lancaster area.  The store while it still featured the older "CVS / Pharmacy" signage (Google Earth) There aren't any ACME clues on the inside (CVS has entirely remodeled it), but plenty to be seen on the outside. I'm unsure what this is, but it's likely a COVID-19 testing or vaccine center, as it's relatively new and was just added in the past year. Quick Information: Opened: 1964? / 1983 / 1991 Address: 1507 Lititz Pike Photographed: March 2021

Glimpse: Giant To Go #6652 - Lancaster, PA (Oregon Pike)

Image
Giant To Go's second and final location, known as store #6652, located at 2339 Oregon Pike in Lancaster opened in May 2011, on a piece of land which was formerly a Quality Inn. In late 2015, the store was rebranded to a TurkeyHill convenience store (TurkeyHill purchased the two stores in earlier 2015). With this TurkeyHill opening, a location at the Worthington Square development (which opened in February 2012) closed, and the gas pump canopy was later demolished.  Retail in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania TurkeyHill's signage on the side of the building. You can still see the Giant To Go labelscar The Quality Inn, which was demolished around 2010 for Giant To-Go.
