Weekly Digest: December 5 - December 11

Sorry I'm late this week, I forgot all about the Weekly Digest...

Glimpse: Weis #191 - Gap, PA

WEIS #191 Opened:  1997 Address:   5360 Lincoln Hwy E Photographed:  July 2021 Weis Markets #191, located at 5360 Lincoln Highway East in Gap, Pennsylvania opened on June 28, 1997, as the chain's 13th store in Lancaster County. It was damaged by an overnight fire on November 24, 2019, and reopened on April 22, 2021. The remodel also included the addition of a drive-thru pharmacy window. Original appearance of Weis #191, June 2017 (Photo by Bruce Woodloe on Google Maps) The store as it appears right before renovations started, September 2020 (Photo by Reid S. Quick Look: Walgreens #11033 - Bethany Beach, DE

WALGREENS #11033 Opened:  2006 Address:   32979 Coastal Hwy Photographed:  July 2021 Our Happy Harry's-turned-Walgreens series has finally made it down to Sussex County! After this, before heading back up to Pennsylvania, we've got a Rite Aid, then another Walgreens, then another Rite Aid, so stay tuned for all of that! Walgreens #11033, like most of the company's other Delawarean stores, started out as a Happy Harry's. Store #33 for the small chain, this store first opened in July 1966 at 792 Garfield Pkwy. On April 17, 2001, it was closed in order to relocate to its current location, 32979 Coastal Hwy, reopening on April 18, 2001. Like all the other Happy Harry's stores, #33 was converted to a Walgreens in 2006, being remodeled in 2011. This store has a strange exterior, not matching any other ground-up Happy Harry's from the era (It's not in a shopping center or anything, so I don't know what the deal is).

Christmas at Rite Aid - 2021 (Lancaster, PA)

For our second holiday post of the season, here's another store you may recognize from a previous installment, Rite Aid #3620. I'll also link the original post here in case you're interested.  https://retailforever.blogspot.com/2021/01/quick-look-rite-aid-3620-lancaster-pa.html This store has two seasonal aisles, each running parallel to the other. At the time of my visit, only one was in use for the Christmas merchandise, and the other was being used for excess Halloween merchandise, which was being sold at 90% off, as well as some other miscellaneous merchandise. From this angle, the photo shows the Christmas aisle leading to the store's west side (upon entering, at least) There wasn't too much here, so I hope they'll be getting some more. The lone Christmas aisle, as seen from the other end.
